How is this reality experienced by those whose lives are connected to both Indigenous and Black communities? For BIPOC queer folks\, the barriers are increased as these individuals now must navigate the intricacies of intersecting aspects of their identity that each come with their own unique challenges.Tune into a panel on the navigation of multiple identities and the intersectionalities of the BIPOC queer lived experience. \nThis panel discussion will have ASL interpreters provided by the Canadian Hearing Services.   \n1:30 – 2:40 PM: Dualité de l’identité : Les Réalités d’être Francophone et Noir\nAlthough this country is framed from a bilingual standpoint\, French remains a minority language across these colonized lands. For the often racialized Black francophones inhabiting these lands\, there are several barriers and challenges associated with being part of a minority of a marginalized group. Tune in for a conversation around the realities faced by Afro-descendants francophone and the uniques implications of their daily experiences; let’s talk about this Duality\, of being Black and Francophone. \nThis panel will be hosted in French\, English translations will be available. ASL interpreters provided by the Canadian Hearing Services./em> \n3:00 – 4:10 PM: BIPOC Health Matters: Pushing the Boundaries of Health Equity\nIn these pandemic times\, more have been made aware of the ongoing inequities in our healthcare system that impact BIPOC communities. The panelists have all worked to bring light to those realities\, and have worked diligently to bring these issues to the surface and to advocate for necessary change. If BIPOC health truly matters\, what changes are needed to systems so that our communities can truly experience meaningful health equity? \nThis panel discussion will have ASL interpreters provided by the Canadian Hearing Services. \n \n Day 1: Panelists & Moderators Bios (EN)\n \n Day 1: Panelists & Moderators Bios (FR)\n \n Day 2: Panelists & Moderators Bios (EN)\n \n Day 2: Panelists & Moderators Bios (FR)\n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n Thank you to our sponsors:

SUMMARY:**NEW DATE** BLMS 1 Year Anniversary: Reflect & Rally
DESCRIPTION:We know we said rain or shine… but the forecasted rain on Friday will dull our shine! \nWe’ve postponed the rally for Friday\, July 9\, from 4 to 6 p.m. at Tom Davies Square (Courtyard Area)\, Downtown Sudbury. We apologize for the inconvenience. \nStay tuned in the next week for more information about our amazing food vendors and BIPOC performers that we have lined up!   \nIt’s hard to believe that it’s been a year since we started organizing. On Friday\, July 9\, 2021\, we will regroup again to rally\, remember\, and reflect on all the work we’ve done to push forward anti-racism in our city and to nurture a community commitment to ending violence against Black lives everywhere. We have been defiant in the face of ongoing silence from community leaders with regards to racism in our city and we will continue to demand accountability and action from our community to engage in meaningful anti-racist action.  \nFollowing the rally\, there will be performances by BIPOC artists\, food vendors\, and more. \nCOVID guidelines will be enforced so please bring a mask to participate and be aware of social distancing.
