About

Black Lives Matter – Sudbury (BLMS) is an organization that is committed to fighting systemic racism in all of its forms, demanding that society and all levels of government address and fix the root causes of racism in all social institutions.

In addition to fighting against anti-Blackness, we create spaces to build our community. Through alternative forms of education, programming events for our communities, and supporting cultural creation, we believe that we create our own liberation through our commitment to thrive and build beautifully.

BLMS would like to acknowledge that our membership is situated on N’Swakamok, later known as Sudbury. This land on which we learn, work, and live is in the Robinson-Huron Treaty territory. We are located on the traditional lands of the Atikameksheng Anishnawbek and the Wahnapitae First Nation. We would also like to recognize the presence and important contributions of Métis peoples in the community and on this land.
