BLMS 1 Year Anniversary: Reflect & Rally

On Friday, July 9, 2021, we marked one year since we began organizing as a movement. Community members gathered to rally, remember, and reflect on the work undertaken to advance anti-racism in our city and to strengthen a collective commitment to ending violence against Black lives everywhere.

Over the past year, we remained steadfast in the face of ongoing silence from community leaders regarding racism in our city. We continued to call for accountability and meaningful action, urging our community to engage in sustained and tangible anti-racist efforts.

Following the rally, attendees enjoyed performances by BIPOC artists, local food vendors, and additional community programming. COVID-19 guidelines were enforced throughout the event, with masks and physical distancing required to ensure everyone’s safety
